The Portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation today announced the winners of its summer 2024 portrait photography competition honoring top talent in the portrait photography industry My photograph of a young woman wearing a camouflage hoodie and a cap, sitting on a concrete ledge, her expression look "pained"/contemplative - was the Category winner for the category 'Documentary Portraits' and received a Silver award 🩶 award from an expert panel of judges. It's hard to grasp the level of skill and amount of work that goes into achieving national or international distinctions until you've been through it yourself. Sometimes, it feels like a grind—and, a little bit of a pricey indulgence. As photographers we're our toughest critics—always pushing ourselves, comparing, doubting, wondering if our work is ever 'good enough.' That’s why these awards mean so much to me. Some of the readers might not fully get it, but being recognized for your work by your peers is a huge honor. One of my images earned a Silver Award from the judges, and then it was re-judged, selected from all the entries, and named the category winner! I’m beyond proud and honestly still a little in shock. |
