It's been more than a couple of weeks since my last blog post, and quite a bit has unfolded since then.
Prior to Christmas, my son, daughter-in-law, and one-year-old grandson visited us for two weeks. Despite refraining from formal photoshoots during their stay, I couldn't resist capturing precious moments with my grandson, even though he proved to be a lively subject. His constant movement, waving hands, and playful antics made for a challenging yet fun experience. In the end, I resorted to teaching him 'high fives,' though with 'low fives' I wasn't quite as successful. Towards the end of their visit, we discovered a really fun pastime of using a laundry basket as a makeshift boat for my grandson. At first, my grandson was a little hesitant, but then as he got used to being pushed around in circles he started to laugh and giggle. The laundry basked also works on land as well. We could put him in and push him around or he could push it around himself.
Over the Christmas period, my youngest son also spent a couple of weeks with us, leading to a further pause in scheduling formal photoshoots. It was a pity that we couldn’t have everyone over Christmas Day but beggars can’t be choosers.
The new year began on a challenging note with having to attend two funerals and my father-in-law falling ill, and then I had to be away for two weeks. Consequently, I had a photography hiatus lasting about a month and a half.
Now, it's time to get back into the swing of things, balancing housekeeping tasks and further refining my photography skills by exploring different techniques and approaches.
Looking ahead, I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunities and challenges that 2024 will bring. Don't forget about my '40 Over 40' campaign this year! If you're interested, head to my website mikeevansportraits.com and visit the '40 Over 40' tab at the top for more details or to make a booking.
