Personal Branding / Headshots
Do you have headshots that really projects you, your business, or your brand? Professional headshots are all about making that first impression and establishing that connection for your passion and work.
A beautiful and positive portfolio of headshots can say everything about who you are and conveys your brand to prospective employers prior to that first in-person meeting.
Whether for a social profile or your company’s website, the quality and style of your headshot can impart a lot about you as a person and signals how you conduct business. An outdoor shot in casual attire exudes a very different sense than a portrait in a business suit against a solid color backdrop. The type of photo that’s right for your business is a branding decision, but regardless of the business you are in, a blurry or poorly cropped picture conveys a sense a sloppiness and a lack of attention to detail that carries over to your organization’s reputation.
When building a strong and compelling brand for yourself, quality photographs are essential and will make a big difference in how you are perceived. If you are communicating a message of quality then your portrait needs to be of the highest quality, to provide creditability, and to reassure associates and attract clients.
The truth is that how you look and project yourself to the outside world speaks volumes about who you are as a person and as a professional.
Now that social media has taken on such an important role in promoting our professional abilities, having an impact-making headshot is more important than ever. Since every social media platform requires a profile image, your headshot will have a far-reaching web presence in addition to more traditional uses like the staff page of your organization’s website and publication in conference or speaking engagement–related materials.
I can work with you to get the perfect shot and guarantee that you will finish the session with many high-quality results, which you will be shown at the reveal, so you can choose a wide variety of sizes and formats.
During the pre-photo shoot consultation, we will discuss the type of image you wish to portray, and how you want to achieve it. If it requires going on location we will do it or you may require a simple business “uniform” photo, maybe with your colleagues, set against a basic white or black backdrop - it's up to you.
Your Session Includes
CONSULTATION
Before any session, we will meet, over the phone (Zoom, Skype) or in person, for a discovery consultation to discuss your requirements from how you wish to look and feel in your portraits to photographic themes and ideas.
PHOTO SESSION
You will arrive at the studio or we will meet at a location. If required, hair and makeup can work their magic. Session times vary depending on who, where, and how we are taking images, but my aim is to provide a range of options for you to choose your final art pieces. I will guide you through your personalized session from the initial ideas to natural posing techniques, highlighting your strengths, all the while making sure you feel as comfortable as possible, whilst ensuring you have an enjoyable experience.
You get to wear multiple outfits ( maximum of 3) for your photo session so that you will have photos for a variety of uses! You could use them for social media, headshots for work, photos for your partner, or gifts for your family.
The duration of the photo session is usually around 1 hour.
REVEAL
This is the fun part. You will be invited back for your viewing and ordering appointment within 1-2 weeks after your photo session. If you are unable to meet in person, a Zoom or Skype meeting can be arranged. This is where you will see your portraits up large and in all their detail. You can take your time to go through your images, at your own pace, and choose the ones that you like the best and from here we can discuss again to finalise sizes and product options.
PACKAGES, PRINTS, AND FRAMING
Packages for Headshot prints, framed prints, and digital images are purchased separately.
DELIVERY
We believe in the power of a printed image. But we also know that we live in a digital age. That is why with the purchase of every print, you receive its high-resolution digital file. There is an option, for headshots only, and to only purchase digital images only.
All images will be printed using archival paper and mats, and presented in a frame protected by UVC glass. The objective is to provide superior-quality images, that will be on display all the time, and that will last a lifetime.
You will usually receive your printed headshots within two weeks of sharing your final favorites with me. The digital images will be provided with a USB stick at the same time as your printed images.
(Due to the nature of the product, there are no returns or refunds)
PREPARING FOR YOUR HEADSHOT SESSION
Clothes, colours and make-up tips
- Solid colours work best and if possible avoid patterns and busy textures. Black is good, but it's best to avoid white unless it's underneath something. If you regularly receive compliments that you look good in a particular colour, then bring that outfit along.
- Dark clothes attract less attention - the focus should be on your face.
- Make sure your clothes are pressed/ironed and don't be tempted to overdress.
- Avoid jewellery that detracts from your face, and choose simple pieces that flatter you.
- If you are going to get a hair cut, get it a week before the shoot. This way, the cut will grow in a little and you will have some time to get used to how your hair looks and feels.
What to bring
- Two to three outfits - you may want to bring a casual outfit along with two professional office outfits.
- If you wish to bring accessories such as scarfs or additional ties please feel free to do so.
Makeup and Face
- Make-up should be clean and natural - no experimenting at this time for a new look - that's a different session.
- Ladies, wear light foundation and emphasise eyes and lips.
- Try not to use matte styles of makeup. It will dry out your skin.
- Bring your makeup and moisturizer with you to the shoot in case your skin does get dry or you need touchups.
- Bring lip balm or lip gloss with you to help keep lips looking soft.
- The night before brush your lips with your toothbrush to help get rid of any dead skin.
- Don’t do any extreme beauty regimens right before your shoot, like facial peels, tanning or extensive exfoliating. Your skin can look very irritated.
- Get rid of any unwanted hair a few days before your shoot. Clean up brows and upper lip hair.
- FOR MEN. Shave right before you leave for a shoot, unless you want that 'Don Johnson' look. Use cooling gel or aftershave to help with skin irritation and try not to cut yourself.
General
- If you can, drink plenty of water in the week prior to your headshot photoshoot, as this will keep your skin plump, smooth and clear.
- Avoid sun exposure, which can make you look tired and leave your skin irritated.
- Get plenty of sleep to avoid dark circles under your eyes!
- I will not be taking photographs of your feet, so please feel free to wear comfortable footwear.
