We now have devices that make creating photographs easier than at any time in the past. Today everyone has a camera and selfies have become the thing to do and everyone takes loads of selfies and if it is not a selfie it’s some other photograph.
Most people will readily admit that they have so many images on their various devices that finding any one image is quite a chore. Though it’s very important that life's moments are captured, the sheer volume of photography in your life has created a lot of 'noise'; hundreds of images on your own phone, tens of thousands of friends' images on social media, etc. The effect of this noise is that less and less time is spent actually enjoying or making sense of the flood of images that wash over you every day - click 'Like', swipe, next - over and over and over. How many of these images do you remember if any at all? Do any images mean something to you so that you never tire of looking at it?
Assembling the memories of our lives or those we love so much, is important. Important seems not to be a strong enough sentiment, perhaps imperative, is more appropriate, necessary, and/ or required. It is not a burden, but a privilege. Time slips by and we often forget that getting the family together for a portrait is just that, a privilege.
Legacy portraiture is defined as the gift of property (photographs) to be handed down. Creating the legacy portrait is probably one of the most important photographs I produce. My job, ( and my pleasure) is to produce a beautiful photograph that is the culmination of all of the above to make a lasting memory.
Creating a legacy portrait is more than just taking a photograph. It:-
- Tells a story! Individually, and even more dramatically as part of a collection curated over time.
- Is not limited in style, but rather reflects the style of the subject's story.
- Is created by a portrait photographer as a work of art. It’s not just a point and click
- Is always delivered physically - as art for the walls in your home, or in the form of books, albums, or treasure boxes.
- Is Archival - they will stand the test of time for multiple generations.
Your family is your life expressed and legacy portraits are the living artistic record of that expression.
Throughout history, the foremost example of legacy portraits was of royal families. They understand and know that a family legacy is embodied by the visual memories of it's members over time, and because of this, they put a premium on commissioning fine portraits of the family. You don’t have to be a Royal to value Legacy Portraits - they are for you and your family.
Legacy portraiture is a personal history documenting your family. We all leave a “unique footprint’ on earth and our portrait should show this uniqueness for generations to come. Look at the creation of this portrait as an opportunity to show the world your family!
You not only deserve to have a legacy portrait but will never regret your children having these beautiful artistic images to pass down the generations.
Turn your family legacy portrait into a reality, just seize the opportunity to make it happen soon!
The experience is priceless!
